Help 94VC PI will not run

Hi I hope someone can help, I have only had this car a few weeks it was setting for a year or so. The first problem I had and probably still have was the transmission seemed to slip in and out of gears around 35- 40 mph. Then all of a sudden it starts losing power I was driving when it would not go past about 10 - 15 mph and then kicked in and took off again. I made it home but everytime I had to slow down or stop it took forever to get any speed going seemed like something would kick in again and it was fine. The next time I started it I could hardly drive it a mile to my brothers so he could check it. It was idling very rough and backfiring under hood when you press the gas pedal it would die if you let out and just pressed lightly it would rev up. He was replaced the fuel pump as the pressure was not good after changing the filter. Intake is all clean MAF looked cleaned. The exchaust was getting very hot Cat convertors glowing so he cut them figuring they were blocked. It will idle now but will not rev up when peddle is pushed
Oh the injectors were clean also. I think I remembered everything they checked all vacum lines are good. Any suggestions?? They check tje EGR valve also We have read alot of posts on here trying to find answers but so far nothing has worked.

first off you cant look at the maf sensor and tell if its clean or not. you must clean it will electrical conduit cleaner. before i cleaned mine, my car would not rev above a certain rpm. but after cleaning her it ran like a raped ape

I took it off and clean it then it would not start at all. Found no fuel again !! Will have to fuel pump back off and return hopefully it runs again! One of the main problems is it was duel fuel we removed all the natural gas that we found, but there is alot of extra wires from the police equipment. The car only has a little over 40,000 miles it was not a cruiser but a service aid vechile but still had all police equipment on it. So if we ever get it running again it will be worth all the trouble I would think.

i just hoped when you cleaned it that you were gentle!! i probably should have said this to you in my prior message. but it can break very easy. its like filament

yes I was very gentle I went to the site someone had posted on here that showed you how to clean it. I used a q-tip the only thing is that site tells you to use carbruetor cleaner it does say make sure it is safe for plastic though,, Ok the car is now running put still throwing the check engine light once in awhile I have get my exchaust rewelded since the cat convertors were not blocked. do you know how to get the codes from this model all the parts store around here can only test 96 and above. The lines were not tight on the fuel filter, and once that was fixed it runs they say it runs good but the thing is so loud that I can't tell anything!!!!
I am still having the same problem with tranny slipping in and out of gear do you think if I get the trouble codes it will show the problem?
