Dexron III synthetic or Blend atf fluik
I have a 2000 SL, 1.9L sohc engine, 5 speed manual transmission with about 94k miles.
The manual recommends changing the transmission fluid every 30k miles. I changed it once and it is about due for another change. The recommended fluid is DexronIII automatic transmission fluid. I have noticed this product is available in synthetic and blend. Is there any advantage (or danger) in using the synthetic or blend product? Over the years I tried synthetic oil in some of my cars. While there may be long term value I found no short term value. So, now I use regular oil and just change it regularly. Thanks Randy |

Re: Dexron III synthetic or Blend atf fluik
all blended is is a mixture of synthetic and conventional oil to lower the price.

Re: Dexron III synthetic or Blend atf fluik
I've read of problems of old seals that get used to oil can fail when given synthectic. At best, I'd use a blend.
On other vehicles that I've put synthetic in, I get a noticable increase in mileage, but that was with 90 weight gear oil. Anbody else want to comment? |
