A/C Issues - 95 Civic EX 1.6L -
Lost compressor in 95 Civic Ex at 90K - I live in FL. and my mechanic ( who's an independant - and very trustworthy) replaced the compressor.
Well after 3 compressors in 3 months we're now on number 4. The past 3 New original equipment destoyed themselves - bolts on the housing snapped/cracked - almost like it vibrated itself to death. Anyway - compressor 4 seems to run but now I have a situation where the hotter the outside air the peformance of the A/c starts to diminish or just shut off Drive the car in AM - cool air - like it should. Noon - cool but a little less cool than AM - PM - starts cool, runs for about 2 minutes - then shuts down. The mechanic can't find any power to the harness that feeds the compressor - they can't find a short. They believe the ECM is shutting it down and cutting the power off. He wants me have the ECM analyzed - which in calling a Honda dealer - one of the service guys said "the only real way to test it is replace it" which I found almost laughable. Anybody got any ideas? This has been a great car for years!

do you know if somewhere is the system there might be a clog? It just sounds like in the AM, the high side is doing good... during noon, it's hotter and the pressure backs up increasing the high side pressure... and at night, the pressure gets too high and the compressor shuts off by the switch on top of the drier... this is just a guess and some idea... hope this might be the problem.....
