problems with 94 escort might buy-

hello new to this forum my cousin has a 94 escort for sale runs a little rough but I have read a few threads on here about the plug wires being bad so maybe that is what it needs, the inside of the radiator is horrible, it grinds just a small amount when putting into reverse and just a little small amout hard to get into gear unless I release the clutch lever and push it back down then it slides in but does not drag or kill the car while at a stop light, and last but not least the damn windshield gets humidity all over it on the outside when the air is on, when you turn the wipers on there is little small dots the size of dimes all over the windshield till it dries, I was curious how I can tell if the heater core is leaking? no fluid or anything inside and I am not sure if it is using any i am trying the car out, I did put 1/2 cup radiator fluid in, and it is not smiling out the tail pipe so I dont think it is a head gasket, any suggestions or comments will be greatly appreciated, thanks so much guys

Your shifting problem sounds like hydraulics. Check the fluid in the clutch master resevoir. You may have a leak or air in the system.
Check your local autoparts store to see if they lend tools. A radiator pressure tester looks a little like a bicycle pump. Pressurize the system and see if it holds pressure. Look for leaks.
There is a drain tube for condesation for the A/C. Check to make sure it is not clogged.

My '93 Escort is hard to get in gear sometimes too. I guess that's just the way they are. Replacing the heater core is a MAJOR job. It's probaly normal to get the humidity on the OUTSIDE of the windshield. Like a cold one on a hot day. The 'dimes' on your windshield sounds like you may have a low quality replacement windshield. That may not be the original.

Those dime sized problems can be cleared off with a little bit or RainX. Possably replace the wipers too
