Control Module 93 voyager
My van stopped on me and some backyard mechanics looked at it. They told me that it seemed to be the control module above the computer. We took the cap off and sprayed the pins on the modules with electronic cleaner and sprayed all the connector inside the cap. When we put it back on the only way to have it start and keep it running was to pull up on the module. When we let it go back into place the engine dies. They jammed a piece of wood under the control module to keep it up and the van runs great. Should I leave this and continue to use the van or will the loose connection wherever it is, return? Would I just have to change the control module? I call Auto Zone and others but they don't sell them. The dealer wants $400.00 I don't want to put out that money if it will continue to run like it is. Please advise me on this.
Thanks, Rinda |

Re: Control Module 93 voyager
If the van is running then keep on driving it. However, you may encounter problems later on when the wood deteriorates to the point where it will no longer hold the connector in place. If you can find the part number off this particular module call the local wrecking yard and see if you can get one from them. The price will be greatly reduced and since you know where it is you should be able to replace it yourself. Good Luck!

Thanks, that is what I will do and hope the piece of wood works for a long time. I call the junk yard and they said they needed to see the part even though I had the number off the part. I don't want to take it off to try to match the part since they may not have it and then I would have to try to get it running again. |
