Help on my decision

Hello all!!!! I want a 80's s10 to have as a beater truck and want to know what would be the better engine to get 2.5 (4) or the 2.8 ???? I have herd good and bad things about both and would like to get everyones oppinion. I drive a 2002 jeep wrangler and I would use the s10 as a local beater with the occasion of hulling stuff. Also is the 2.5 in the 80's pontiac fiero the same as the s10's

THANKS IN ADVANCE
~Justin

Re: Help on my decision

I don't know what year they started using the 4.3L but you can find it in the later 80's.
It's the only motor that I would want now.
You can probably find a S-10 with a V8 in for a fair price too.

And I believe that the fiero motor is the same.

they started using it in 88 and it is much better that the 2.5 or the 2.8 simply because it is exactly like a 350 sbc with 2 cylenders cut off.

Re: Help on my decision

Avoid the 2.8L like the plag, they all have weak bottom ends and are one of Chevy's worst all time motors

One of the 4 bangers is also a lemon motor, but if I remember correctly it's a 2.2L

stay away from the 22 and the 28 in the dimes, personally it would be 4.3l all the way, its the only moter that isnt underpowererd for the truck
