M5 Madness

a few days ago i was riding with my dad in his BMW M5 and the tires started making a humming noise...i told my dad that the tires may fall off (jokingly) and he said he would get it looked at "soon".... today he was driving on the way to a city a few hours away and was going about 70 on the highway when his back wheel fell completely off...it rolled down the highway just like in the movies....he is fine just the cars rim and disk brake (rotor) is completely messed up i think the rear quarter p[anel was torn off too....srry no pics but i will maybe post some when the repairs are done..

Who's the bigger idiot, the technician who "maybe" didn't tighten the wheel bolts or the person who heard a problem and still decided to go 70 down a freeway??

Definitely the technician who didn't tighten the lugs.

You mean WHEEL BOLTS. Lug nuts are different and not used on BMW's (as far as I know).

You're technically right. They're not used on BMWs. But to to us normal people, it really doesn't matter which name gets used, regardless of the differences, because they both do the same thing. Anyways, they obviously weren't tightened correctly and it was the shop's job to do that. As for driving down the freeway once a problem was heard, it was not known how urgent the problem was. It could have been coming from many places, like the differential for example. That would not have been as urgent.

Correct, they do do the same job but accomplish it in a different way. Kinda like a turbo charger and supercharger do the same job but in a different way. If someone came to AF and said the supercharger on their Dodge SRT-4 blew up don't you think they'd be castrated on the spot?

On a side note, my labrador retriever is chewing on a ballpoint pen.
