Hello all, I'm new to the site and love everything about it. I own a 91 SI with a ZC motor, I bought the car with the motor and i'm trying to find everything out about it. Now i'm not sure how many miles are on the motor but it's smoking up a storm now. I am very capable of fixing it but just don't know were to start. I know that it could be the valve stem seals or the piston rings but don't what parts fit this motor. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Try replacing everything you can. Do the Pistons rings and also put a new head gasket on there. The 89 Integra parts are supposed to fit but they dont. I had a CRX Si with a ZC in it but i never had to replace anything so i dont know which car to use them off of. Sorry.

Hey Dude...I have done most of that research. I am currently in the middle of rebuilding a ZC to stock form. I bought it from a fellow 4th gen enthusiast with a suspected bad head gasket, and next thing you know, it is in 1000 pieces and I am buying bearings, seals, and rings and shit - lol!
Bottom end (block) parts - 91 Civic Si. Top end (head) parts - 89 Integra Head gasket and Timing belt - 88 Prelude 2.0 Si Here is a link or two for you - http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/1989/zc.html http://hybrid2.honda-perf.org/tech/zcinfo.html http://www.hasport.com/information.htm HTH -

Thanks guys for the help, on my way to the parts store to get the parts so that I can get started this weekend. Now if I take the head to the machine shop to have it cleaned up can i tell them that it's for and integra and leave it be, hopeing the parts they use will fit, or will I get a call telling me that they're having problems cuz it's not an intrega head? Also, is it true that the turbo kit for the 92-95 civic was made for the ZC motor, if so will it bolt up with no problems? Again thanks.

CWBETB has the ZC engine with the Greddy Turbo kit for a 92-95 Civic, and he said it bolted up without any trouble. I'm planning on going the same route...
Here's a link that lists all the ZC parts: http://www.geocities.com/teampimports/zcfiles/zc.html Hope that helps!

Thanks for the help to all who have replied, but I still have some questions.
1. Is the head gasket for a prelude or an integra? Got 2 different anwswes. 2. I have an underdrive pulley on the motor and it doesn't spin the alternator fast enough at idle to keep the battery charged, does any one know what crank pulley would fit this motor to make it spin at a regular rate? 3. My distributor is not the one for the motor, I believe that it's for a civic si or some other motor because it only lines up one of the mounting bolts, does any one know which one will fit? 4. Thanks to all of you!! With out all of your help I would have sold my Civic. So THANKS for helping me and letting me see the potential of my car. Oh yeah here's a pic so you all can see what it looks like.

In my opinion I would replace some of the major and hard to do stuff like Head Gasket, but all that other crap I wouldn't worry about. If it breaks then it's not that hard to replace so why fix whats not broken.

Hello all! Sorry I have not replied in a while but I've been working on the Sinister Civic. Thanks to everyone who has replied you all have helped alot in the rebuild of my ZC motor. Well as I said the motor is complete and i'm happy to say that it's running better than before, feels alot stronger than before and more reliable. I was able to buy an other ZC motor and SI tranny from a guy i met around here that was dissasembled for only 150.00 for every thing what a deal right? Well I used that motor to verify all the parts before I did any purchasing. Saved alot of going back to honda with the wrong stuff. Now I have a Spare motor that i plan on rebuilding this winter so I can turbo it out and still have my freshly rebuilt motor for that "just in case" factor. Have pics of the entire rebuild from start to finish which hopefully I can get online soon. So Thanks again to all who helped the Sinister Civic get rolling again! Edwin. "SINISTERCIVIC"
