rear seat fold down

I have an 05 Crew cab. Do the rear seats fold down? There looks to be enough room behind them to throw more crap, but don't think they fold down.

Also, has anyone else found their gauge mileage to be a little optimistic. My onboard computer constantly shows my mileage at the end of the tank to be 1mpg higher than simple math (miles since fill up/gallons to fill tank).

Re: rear seat fold down

If you lift the seat bottoms all the way up, the seat backs fold down. Your manual explains how to do it (this is also where your jack storage is). The seat bottoms have to be all the way up to let the backs come down though. This can be a pain, though, if you have your front seats too far back, they won't let the rear seat bottoms down far enough. You can cheat though; if you look at the hardware on the floor as you pull the seat bottoms forward, you will notice it pulling a silver cable. You can pull up on the cable to release the seat backs.

Also, yes my fuel computer is not totally accurate either. I've never manually calculated my fuel economy with this truck, but I have noticed the fuel used on the computer sometimes can be as much as 1/2 to 1 gallon off when I fill up. All this assumes that when I fill up, it fills to exactly the same level each time, but I doubt it could be a whole gallon difference.

Re: rear seat fold down

Thanks rbbauer. I don't remember seeing any silver cables under the seat, but will look again and check the manual. Nice truck, I've got the same minus the step bar.

Last two fill-ups were 26.1 and 26.3 gallons. Driving 10-20 miles with light on. must have been running on vapors. I've seen 1+gallon difference between what the computer says I've used and what I fill up. I fill up the same way every time

Re: rear seat fold down

i have filled up the tank and ran down the expressway and when i got off i filled it back up and it was right on... City driving it can be off a gallon here and there.. I think it accounts for the fuel you burn when you're not moving there for it's not taken into account for fuel milage
