timing belt installation w/o marking

does anyone know what the correct position the camshaft/ distributor rotor needs to be with respect to TDC prior to reinstalling the timing belt. I wiped away my markings on the crank and camshaft pulleys when I clean it (duh). Now - I dunno where the camshaft pulley need to be in order to correctly install the belt.
The manual says the rotor should be pointing directly at the number 1 distributor cap position and the crank at TDC, but shouldn't the rotor be at 5 degree beyond the #1 distributor cap position if we want to set the timing to 10 degree BTDC?
Any input would help here. Is the 1.0 engine an interference engine? will I bend valves if I rotate the crank independent of the cam?

Re: timing belt installation w/o marking

with the camshaft dowel pin pointing straight down there should be a notch on the gear at the top that lines up with a mark on the metal cover behind the gear. also on the crank gear there will be a dot or mark on it that lines up with a pointer on the oil pump housing behind it

1.0L is a clearance engine. Don't worry about turning the crank or cam. Just line up the marks and go. You are setting valve timing not spark.
