how many octane gas do you use for your V6 Accord?

On the user manual of V6 Honda Acoords says that gasoline with 86 octane or higher is fine for the V6 engine? I am just curious what you use and if you have any (bad/good) experience with 87 octane one? I currently put 87 octane. The car runs fine, but I am concerned with if I am doing right?

Not a big deal. You can't always get 86. Just don't run really high octanes cause they will reduce your mileage and are a waste of money.

Actually, whats weird, is that mine get more milage with plus in it (I think its somewhere around 90 something octane?) Don't know why tho. I did an experiment tho one time, and ended up getting 1-2 mpg more

87 octane is fine

1-2mpg is not much, the increase could be from a previous maint. service, different weather conditions, or driving conditions.

higher octane WILL NOT make your car any faster.

Nobody said it would... I was just saying that, given the same driving style I normally drive, I usually get 1-2 mpg more per tank... so, from my normal 24, I usually get 25-26 or so

It is doubtful that you are getting better mileage from higher octane. You said you only tried the experiment once?

Unless your driving on a test track with the exact conditions . . . .Try it for a few weeks & switch. Do it a couple time to verify the minimal increase. 1-2mpg is nothing, something I wouldn't pay the extra $$$$ for especially when its not needed.

If he IS getting better mileage, the higher octane gas will pretty much pay for itself.
