Ticket for parking at no meter?

Okay heres the story, There is some construction that was being done to my building. The city takes out the parking meters. The work finally gets finished but they haven't put in the meters back. So far for the last two weeks, alot of cars are parked there even though the sign says 2 hour parking. I see cars parked all day without a problem. I park ther today and this afternoon I see I have a ticket for going over the 2 hour limit. But there is no parking meter. What do they think I am suppose to do, go out and move my car every two hours, even if there is no meter? If there was a meter there, I would have gone down and put extra quarters in the meter and extended my stay. But since there wasn't I see no reason too. WTF.

What are my chances of fighting this? Any suggestions.

no chance, the sign said two hour parking, you parked longer than two hours. you don't need a meter to enforce that.

in some cities they'll put chalk on the treads of one of your tires, and come back in two hours.. if it's not smeared, you haven't moved, and are parked illegally.

pay the fine and move your car next time

I was afraid someone would say that. Oh well its only 35 bucks, but still, I am more upset that they caught me and no one else that was parked there longer got a ticket.

Thanks for the reply.

Re: Ticket for parking at no meter?

That is odd that the other people didn't get tickets. Just pay the fine, the others that continue to park there for to long will get their tickets. You now know better.

I think the reason I got a ticket and not the others is because my vehicle is more noticable. I have two hood mirrors that help me see the blind spots and the sidewalks when I park. As well as a back up mirror. So it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Today, I noticed the same cars in the same spot for over the two hour period and yet they did not get a ticket. Oh well.
