RSX 05 - i/h/e

hi everybody, i just had a cold air intake installed (injen) and i just got a dc header but before I install it, I wanna purchase a nice exhaust system. and what i need to know from the gurus here is about compatibility/power. i was looking into greddy or hks but i noticed that a adapter may be required. what kind of power am i looking at here.

give me some input!! thx!

Re: RSX 05 - i/h/e

ummm Can only speak of pre 05' RSX's in terms of bolt ons effectiveness...but the RSX really doesn't need a new exhaust system, the stock exhaust can handle the extra air flow

Id suggest you don't even bother with a new exhaust system, save your money...

Re: RSX 05 - i/h/e

Getting an exhaust is going to be mainly for the sound and the looks. The gains are going to be anywhere from 1-5 whp, in most cases its not an actual performance difference, just a psychological difference.

As for fitment, i'm really not sure, search http://forums.clubrsx.com

so basically there is almost no performance gain going from an oem exhaust to one of those, even when my rsx is non-type-s?

thx a lot everyone!

Re: RSX 05 - i/h/e

As far as I know the gains are even less on a base vs. the Type S. The exhaust on the stock RSX is pretty good as it is stock, so getting one would be mainly for the sound and look of i.

Re: RSX 05 - i/h/e

No prob

For cams, the Type S has the same cams as the Type R, but i'm not sure about the base. I don't know enough about cams to fully explain that one.

I would wait until Hondata (a ECU company that specializes in Honda/Acuras) releases a reflash or ECU for the 05. Hondata has gotten great gains for the TSX and 02-04 RSX. They also change the redline (raise it) and I think the VTEC points too.

Meanwhile i'd suggest investing in some springs, a short shifter (I think they work on all RSXs but not 100% sure) or motor mounts if you can put up with the extra vibration theyd cause.

Re: RSX 05 - i/h/e

Personally I'd go for adjustable coilovers instead of springs. Expensive, but worth it if you've got the cash. Out of curiousity, did you consider FI? I know you've already installed the CAI, but...

I have a hard-on for turboed base sleepers...

Screw turbos and cams, just get multiple turbonators. My CAI is completely lined with turbonators, there's 10 of them. This creates an F5 tornado in the CAI, it's like running 30lbs of boost. I just ordered 30 of the new reverse-turbonators for my exhaust. I'm gonna be pushing 1500 hp. And currently in development is the mini turbonator for your intake runners. Can't wait to get some....

Re: RSX 05 - i/h/e

Tuning is where its at actually. An F5 turbonator should produce more horsepower. I'm going out on a limb and suggesting that its heat soak.

And what about some for the headers and exhaust? The faster you can push the exhast gasses out the more it can sounds like a Volkswagen!

Whoops looks like a thread hijack. I think we should stop

I wish I knew a good line from "Star Wars" to put in here.

Sorry t0m4t0 I'm not trying to blow off your question. I have enough trouble finding parts for an 05 type-s, let alone cams for a base. They don't make alot of parts for 05's yet. I'm going to get a CAI, an alarm, a stereo system, and as soon as Eibach comes out with Sportline springs for the 05, those and shocks. Other than that I'm just going to wait a year or two to see what comes out. If you don't want to wait, try contacting cybernation in S. FL, Alot of people say they make the best turbo kits for the RSX. They might be able to help you out with a kit if you got enough $$$, which is why mine isn't turbo'd yet.

Re: RSX 05 - i/h/e

Cybernations, GReddy, RevHard, and HKS are the major turbo kit makers for the RSX.

Comptech and Jackson Racing are the major supercharger kit makers for the RSX.

Hytech and TODA are the major NA kit makers for the RSX.

However for the base, i'm not too sure how many of those companies make kits. Oh and if you're going with Cybernations, theres a pretty large debate over which engine manager is better - Hondata K-Pro or CN Guardian. I'm not too sure about the pros or cons about those though and i'd def. research taht if I were going FI.
~~~~~
As far as parts, Hondata will work on the bases because its the same engine as the 02-04 base. Supsension parts are gradually being made....
As for how to quote, its the following:
[Zquote=theusernameofwhoyouwanttoquote]texttexttext[Z/ quote]
Don't put the Z's though
And if you don't want to put the username in just put [Zquote]
