why do the running lights burn out?
what is it with the 99-03 silverado/sierra's that makes the daytime running lights burn out? i swear almost 50% of them that i've ever seen have had at least one daytime running light burnt out. is it just bad bulbs, or is it some other problem?

yeah its cause they are on any time the truck is in gear unless the headlights are on. and they are just cheap bulbs. they need to design led bulbs for them and they would last longer.

Re: why do the running lights burn out?
The current to the DRLs is about 14 volts...... that's why the 12 volt 3157 burns out so fast. Use the Sylvania 4114K.... they're part #15199562....rated for 14 volts. I got mine off eBay, don't know if the dealers carry them or not but the 8-digit part number might be a GM part number. Probably would be more expensive though. I paid $4.99/pr. plus $3.00 shipping.
The LEDs will last awhile also....... and most likely a whiter/brighter light. Good luck!! |
