Price Estimate, Transmission, Starter, Signal Problem

Hi,
My car's been giving me problems lately..major ones I have a 2.2L, 5spd manual '95 sunfire and whenever I press the clutch, especially after a cold start, it makes a really loud drilling noise. After I drive for a bit, it begins to get less and less noisy but it's still there. Anyways the mechanic said that the transmission's going bad and that's the reason why it's making those noises.
So I was wondering, 1) could there be any other reason and 2) how much (approximately) in canadian dollars, would a manual transmission cost for my car.
Secondly, my car refuses to start I have to press teh clutch repeatedly for liek 5 minutes before it decides to start. Otherwise it just makes this clicking noise (one click per start attempt). Anyways the mechanic said that it's the starter going bad. So yea, I had the same questions for this too. Is it definately the starter and how much would it cost me?
I'm just thinking whether I should repair this car or go buy another used car and the relay switch I think you call it (the part that controls the signals) keeps on blowing (the $20 part) every 2 weeks. So my signals stop working. Been driving without working signal lights for over 2 months now. Why could this be happening?

Thanks~

Hey...im not to sure about the starter price...but I just recently had my transmission replaced in my sunfire...its a 2000 GT...but I'm taking a guess the prices could be similar. I went to a GM dealership as well so maybe thats why it cost as much as it did. For a used 5 sp tranny, it costs about $2500 (thats to get it and install it) and for a new tranny, it ran about $3000 (installed and all). I'm sure you could go to a wreckers and pick up a tranny there for about $600-$1000. To get it installed...thats about $800. These are just the prices I found in my area, hopefully they run about the same in your area.
