problem installing deck

I decided to install a deck myself because I am eventually going to install subs, an amp, and rear speakers so I wanted to know how it was going in. after I troubleshot a few problems and finding out the radio was tied into the dome light and dimmer switch fuse which had burnt out I went to screw the deck in. it was then I discovered that it was too long. It's about an inch longer than the factory radio. Anyone have any ideas how I could go about fixing this problem? At the moment I have to spacers but that is a temporary fix. I would prefer avoiding taking the deck back if I could. Im not even sure they would take it back since I soldered the ends together.

Theres not really to much that you can do about ur cd player being too long. When i put mine in my 99 it stuck out a lil bit as well. Theres alot of wires to go in a little space back there. you just have to mess around with the wires and find a spot where u can put them so they will fit. Also your gonna run into another problem when you hook your subs up. Your RCA wires are gonna take up alot of room in the back which again will cause your cd player to stick out. Mine is still sticking out a little bit but its not that noticable. The only thing i can tell you is that you have to play around moving the wires and try to find a reasonable spot for them. After you try that i'm not real sure what else you can do because you cant bypass any of those wires which u already know that. Good luck bro let me know if i can help ya out with anything else.

i had similiar problems i know you can start chopping into the back of the dash in there and pray u dont hit anything vital but i also had to do some massive playing w/ the wires to get it to pop into the little slot its a pain in the ass but hopefully you only have to mess w/ it one time

i do believe i fixed the antenna problem. it must have been loose. i went out and bought a small saw to try and cut through some of the plastic in the back after i burnt out another fuse. every time i unplug the dome light/dimmer switch fuse and plug it back in the fuse seems to pop. i dont know why it just does although it could be from unpluging the raido and pluging it back in since that fuse seems to be tied into the radio.

I just used side cutters.. you dont gotta take away alot just the part the crosses over in the corners and the middle part that stick up.
just leave the fuse unplugged till everything is back in.
I believe i did the same thing.. I only poped one fuse... its prolly because the dome light and radio is on the same circut .. too much current all at once or something.
