Surburban charging system

Replaced alternator and battery about a month ago. Everything worked fine up until this weekend. I noticed voltage on dash gage dropped to around, I guess 10 volts and battery light came on. I could rev engine and battery light would go off but voltage gage did not change. I could drive at 55 mph in drive, not overdrive, and battery light would stay off. Voltage gage did not increase. The gage read around 14 volts when I first replaced alternator. Do you guys think the alternator went bad. It was a rebuilt NAPA product.

Re: Surburban charging system

Sounds like the voltage regulator is bad (internal to the alt). I would take it back and let them test it. It should still be under warranty.

Check your terminals for corrosion. The GM duel wire system is notorious for corrosion. This causes resistance which leads to less voltage. Cleaned my terminals really good even in the plastic and it did wonders for my suburban.
