Question ignition switch

99 Olds Intrigue, ~ 80K miles, runs great, love the car since I bought it new.

Problem; Intermittently, when I turn on the key, nothing happens; the instruments don't move, etc, and the car won't crank. Turn off the key, try again, and usually the car is fine. I don't have theft deterrent key, so that's not the problem. Car for a while would often die after starting, but that went away when I cleaned the battery posts and cables.

Is the ingition switch the most likely culprit? Or could it be a connection in the ignition module (seems unlikely, since the instruments, etc, and not functioning when the car won't start). Car runs great after starting, by the way. Thanks! JIM
