Re: Best Amps for 12" JL W7 amps
The manufacture websites are the best source of information for techinical information. you can use their information to shop Amps. Their are Tons of great amps. I'm not piticular with any specific manufacture. Box types will affect the performance of the woofer. Rule of tumb is Ported boxes provide lower frequences (R&B, Rap) while sealed hit more midrange (country, rock)

Re: Best Amps for 12" JL W7 amps
To be safe, and not blow your subs: chose an amp that has 75% the RMS of the woofer.
To get the best out of your woofer: chose an amp that has the same RMS or more than the woofer. Will squeeze the sound out of your woofer for what its worth, but you could blow your subs if youre not careful. Im running the former setup. Subs still hard as heck (2 12" Fosgates) and are powered by a 500w channel amp. |

Re: Best Amps for 12" JL W7 amps
Personally I would go with an amp that is what the speaker is rated for. If it can hold 1200 watts i would go with 1200 watts. Using an amp that is rated too low can drastically shorten the life of your sub. By the way I have heard those W7's. The one I heard was in a honda accord and it was only 8" but I was impressed with how good such a small speaker sounded.
