Guys, I need a vented hood.

The heat in my engine is becoming rediculous..... It gets so hot now, that If I even try to open the hood, The hood latch that opens the hood burns my hand. Even the little hood proper-upper thing gets hella hot. Why is that. I figure it's becuase of my turbo, Well if thats the case. I need a new hood.

Now I know that Carbon Fiber hood are known to warp from emence turbo heat..... and I have emence heat. So what should I do? I haven't found Any vented hoods made out of the normal hood metal. Can you guys help me out..... Also, would this carbon fiber hood have enough vents, that it would warp?

Haha you know your fast as hell when you need a vented hood to keep things cooooool. Vented hood sounds like a good idea, but I heard the same about carbon fiber hoods. The heat kills them. I would find a shop that will cut some vents in your stock hood, but make it look professional. It would be a one of a kind then, and you can make the vents where you want them.

I think this mod looks great on the stock hood. Only bad thing I could see about this is that when it rains, it will start to steam from the water hitting the turbo, or heat shield.

Re: Guys, I need a vented hood.

you need a vent the points toward your window so the heat is pulled from the car. It will function better in rain also, you dont want anthing cracking from water being tossed on it while your driveing.

Re: Guys, I need a vented hood.

Though the vents cuts were probably the easiest to cut and the moast funational, I personally would go for something a little more....uh...extravagent perhaps. Something similar to the ones below; I think they would give a more pronounces sense of aggressiveness.

Some similar vents, if moulded right in, could look really sweet.

Damn. I feel like a fashion designer : "functionality follows form, dah'lin!"

Re: Guys, I need a vented hood.

Why not use some exhaust wrap. A lot cheaper than a CF hood too. Or both. http://www.prostreetonline.com/buy/dei_exhaust_wrap/

With the heat you're talking about I would expect your alternator needing replacing like every month lol.

If you do get a hood though, you could also get more cold air in there by making some tubing from the bumper to the engine. Like the dryer ducting to the air filter but on the other side of the bumper.

17"x7.5 5Zigen Copse in hyperblack with 225/45/17s. Wanted to go with thicker rubber, but discovered that I was already too close to the control arm, regardless of how much space the wheel well has.
