Arrow Overhead Console Help

I have a 90 XJ. I raped an overhead console and the harness that runs down the A-post from a local junkyard and put it in to my XJ. Installed everything and it worked fine for probably 2 years. Now the display seems to flicker on and off. I messed around with it and have a feeling its a bad connection. I also noticed when its on that it sometimes "freezes" up. I figured out if I removed the the temperature sensor it won't freeze up anymore. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if its possible if the 2 are related or not. Also, if anyone knows where I could have a possible bad connection. I checked the power at the display and its sometime hot and sometimes not. Tried to trace it back but it goes into a huge harness and then I lose it.
