Question timing belt question ford taurus 96

Hello everyone first time here, I have a 96 ford taurus gl with 149,000 miles. when should I change my timing belt? how many timing belts does my vehicle have?
how much money more or less does this cost in a average mechanic?
and what happens if I dont change it soon?

thanks to all have a great day!!

depending on which engine you have, you might not have a timing belt. check your owners manual for scheduled mantainence intervals. that will tell you if you have to replace your timing belt.
