Question 93 4x4

need some help. I have 1993 s-10 4x4 maybe ok the 4wd does not work
the selector moves freely between 2hi and 4hi but cant get into n of 4 lo checked under the truck the lever IS moving on the transfer case but 4x4 is not kicking in what could be the problem also why will it not go into N or 4 low

try the vacuum control by the batery box or under the battery box .Make sure when you engage that the control pulls in in not try tie it back and see if u have 4x4 if you do then replace it also look for loose vacuum lines .

thanks I will check it first thing but why would the lever not go into 4 low or even into neutral does that have something to do with vacuum too? i pulled on it hard as i could it would not move

Are you pusing down on the shifter button when trying to go into N or 4L? On mine, you have to push the button.

I would say you have something wrong in your transfer case. Have you checked the fluid inside the case?

Mine does that too, but it's mostly since 2wdLo was never used before I bought it.
I have to either shift in from P or N and for some reason it's once and the other gear the next time.

I'm pretty sure that if I oil all the linkage that it'll free up and work, but I haven't had the time to try it.

problem located the vacuum diaphram under the battery has a pretty little cut about an inch long in the rubber anyone know where to find a new one other than a dealer thanks for the help everyone

Dealer, and some aftermarket places might have it too.

any idea what aftermarket places to check have family that works at gm dealer can get the part for 55$ like the posi lock system just dont have the cash for that right now

just for others with the same problem the oem part number is 25031740 it is called a servo
