Exclamation Air conditioning | no power | pls pls help !

Ok I live in Tennessee and it is 90F every day. I really hope someone can help me getting my AC back on. This is what i got:

I have a Chrysler Concorde 1993 3.3 v6 and my air conditioning wont turn on by it selves.

The light on the dashboard turns on when i push the button. But the AC clutch does not start to turn.

- I check Freon and the level is of Freon is good! (Even filled it up using a jumpstart cord)
- I checked the dashboard AC fuse and it is good.
- i got a whole new fan control unit (dashboard) no difference

Now this is the amazing part: If i jump start the compressor with a cable straight from the battery the clutch does turn on and the compressor works fine and blows cold air in the car. As soon as I take the jump start cable of the compressor stops running. With a volt-meter I measured the cable going in to the compressor. (No power) so there is no power going into the compressor. I opened the relay-box and checked the AC relay and even swapped it with the fuel pomp relay (to make sure it was good) and no difference.

For some reason my car is not telling my AC compressor to turn on and there is no power going to it. With the jumpstart cable on it the compressor works fine! i tested it for an hour and no problems.

I hope anyone can help me out here.

Thank you so much for your consideration!

try jumping your clutch cycling switch.
if you jump it and the compressor turns on (and you have a fully charged system) then suspect the switch to be bad.

I cant remember for sure where the switch is, but it is usually on the low side line.

Thanks for your consideration mobile_12

hmm... i can only see 1 single cable going into my compressor. So that switch you are talking about is outside the compressor somewhere under the hood you think?

Re: Air conditioning | no power | pls pls help !

1 update:
in the relay-box i found the connector that goes to my compressor. If i jumpstart that connector in my relay box the AC does turn on. The relay is good. So there is probably no power going to the relay.

anyone ?

Im trying to remember (really grinding the wheels!) where the cycling switch is on your car. It is usually on the low side line. Try following the low side line from the fire wall to the compressor. Its usually a two wire switch mounted into the line with a shrader valve. I believe that when the relay closes, it allows power to flow to the switch. If the pressure is right the switch closes allowing power to the compressor clutch. I will try to post tomorrow and give you a better idea.
