Head Gasket Replacement

I just bought a 98 Malibu for my daughter. The head gasket was gone and the price was right. I've striped the engine down now and am going to put the heads in a machine shop tomorrow to have them pressure tested and to find out if they are warped. I am using the Hanes manual and it says after you have torqued the bolts to the correct spec. to then turn the bolts another 90 degrees. This is the first time I have ever come across this process when working on a engine. Is there any other things that I have to watch out for. Thanks in advance for any help.

Although this doc only refers to 99-03 Malibu's it may not be a bad idea to up the torque value on the intake bolts. At the very least make sure you follow the tightening sequence.
