Noises

Hey guys
This time it's a mechanical concern.
When I accelerate, as the rpm's climb, I can hear a whirr with increasing pitch, almost like a turbine spinning up.
And when I let off the gas, I can hear that "turbine" winding down.
Now, it's not the intake because that has a very distinctive sound to it, and it's doesn't have an obvious effect of performance.
Also, when rpm's are at 1900, there's a light metal on metal rattle coming from the engine compartment. It's only momentary as it's passing through 1900, but if I keep it at 1900 it is continuous.
Not sure that that has anything to do with the 1st noise since it's been doing the rattle since I bought her in Dec.

I love coming to this forum 'cuz you guys are obviously knowledgeable on the subject and I appreciate everyone's input.

Thanks!

Re: Noises

If not the alternator, maybe a loose torque converter?
