Talking 04 civic-maint. req.

So my 2004 honda civic has been flashing "maintience required" for the first 30 seconds that the car is on, ever since I hit 8000 miles. I know that everything is ok because not two days before the maintence required light started blinking I got it serviced (oil change, rotated tires, transmission...). Has anybody else had this happen? I really don't want to bring it to the dealer and get charged an arm and a leg for something....any suggestions/help??? Thanks

Re: 04 civic-maint. req.

Turn the car off, hold down the right knob (tripmeter).. while holding it turn your key to the 2nd position and keep holding it for 10 seconds..

This is a quote from another board.

The light will come on about every 7500 miles letting the driver know it's time for maintenance. Trans fluid doesn't need changing @ 8000 miles. I suggest you stop by the local dealership for a maintenance schedule if you choose not to have the work done there. Sure it's a Honda, but the key to those long running high mileage cars is routine maintenance.
