Question Cab Light

Hey Guys,

Ok, So on my 99' I have a stupid question. I finally took the Canopy off my truck the other day and noticed that the brake part of the Cargo/Brake light wasn't working. So, I undid both of the screws then figured the light would just come off the cab but it didn't budge?

Should I just start prying on it lightly????

Suggestions appreciated.
Have a good weekend.
Evan

Re: Cab Light

Pry it with a small screw driver, won't take much.

Re: Cab Light

I would be happy to know that the seal is in good condition, just think how much you would be swimming if it was loose????

Re: Cab Light

That's my worry, I don't want to ruin the seal and end up with water in the cab...

Re: Cab Light

I actually removed my 3rd brake light today while I was re-routing my XM antenna, and I was able to pry it off with my fingernails. You don't need to jam the screwdriver into the weatherstripping on the light, heh! Just stick the flat edge behind the plastic outer shell above the weatherstripping and pull, it won't take much. It's not like mechanics have a magic trick for getting it off!

By the way, you might want to get the bulbs first so you don't have to worry about putting it back on just to take it off again. Are you sure the reverse lights work? You need two peanut bulbs for the brake lights, assuming that it is just burned out bulbs.

Re: Cab Light

I'm assuming it's just burnt out bulbs... The Cargo Lights work just the brake lights don't.

Peanut lights? Those are just the small ones with the flat end, where the contacts are???

Re: Cab Light

Thanks for your help guys. It did come off with a little sweet talking. I had to pry it off from the bottom with my plastic window tool.(Didn't want to use a blade Screwdriver and muck up the paint)

I didn't have any of the bulbs that were in it around the shop so I just threw some slightly smaller ones in for now. All is well just have to find the right replacements and Canuck Tire.

Also while I was there I cleaned up the area where it mounts to the truck and waxed it all up nice and clean.

Thanks again for your help fellas...
