gasshocks

i decided to take the gasshocks off of the rear door of my escort, but the ends of them didnt just pop off the mounts like i hoped they would, so i took off the mounts. could anyone here tell me how to take the mounts off the gasshocks, before i break something?

Did you remove the retainer clips?

there arent any retainer clips, the way theyre attached is a ball-and-socket

thats the gasshock and bracket i took off.

The picture jogged my memory. I think when I replaced mine I had to hacksaw it off. Start hacksawing the shock where it goes around the ball. Eventually you will be able to bend it off.

thanks for the idea. although i dont have a hacksaw, i have a drill, and i was able to drill through the socket, and then i took an open end wrench and pried the mount off. i tried to take off the other end without drilling, and ended up snapping the mount. so now i guess ill go to a junkyard and get another set of mounts.
