2003 T/c

Hi, I just purchased a 2003 Town Car (Signature) series and would like to know how to eliminate the annoying dinging noise that sounds when the drivers seat belt is not fastened. #2. Can the chirp of the horn be shut off when activating the alarm. #3. I changed the oil today and am unable to re-set the over head console to 100%. It reads 39% and will not re-set even when holding the reset button for as long as 20 seconds. Thanks for any help you can provide. jh

Re: Re: 2003 T/c

I have solved the Horn noise by checking the Owners book. You can discontinue that feature by going through a set procedure with the key in the ignition and pressing the remote door lock switch. As for the seat belt dinging indicator, you can trick it by starting out with the seat belt on while the car is in motion. Once your under way you can unbelt and the chime stops ringing. I know it's not good to ride without using your belt but I have a medical issue. You could also go to a salvage yard and ask them to cut the chrome male portion of the seat belt out of a wreck and then place it in the female portion of the belt in the car you are riding.. Over the weekend I will try removing the Neg. cable on the battery to see if that re-sets the over head oil display....

Thanks to all for their in-put.

Glad you're doing well with the 2003 anoyances

How do you like it so far? Did you have another Lincoln to campare it with, or is this your first?

I've been in Lincolns since 1971 and I must say, I like the ride on the late 80's best of all. I do like my 96, just passed 50k miles last week. It rides best when the trunk is stuffed, and full of passengers.

Today's gas prices, mixed with yesteryears 460 cid's would kill me now They sure were fun back then though

Check with lol on the reset issue.

So far I'm really enjoying it. My last car was/is a lovely 1992 Mercedes Benz 300-E, may just keep it as a back up car. Needed something with a tad more room for when my children come down. The T/C certainly fits the bill. An altogether different drive/ride. With the Benz you drive it, the Lincoln drives you. Forgot how much I missed a big car. This thing just floats along. Question the car has 29k on it does the warranty carry over to the new owner ?

Well I'm pleased to say the Warranty did carry over. Took the car to the dealer last week for the following:

Overhead console, oil % reset not working
A/C did not cool very well when driving over 60 MPH
Strange rotating noise coming from the rear
Hard shift when entering high gear

Not only did they repair all of the above, including replacing the rear axels and bearings, adjusted transmission, filter and fluid replacement, they did a complete 30,000 mile service on the vehicle. And the best part was the bill, NADA, ZIP, Nothing $00.00....All covered. They even went the extra mile by supplying a loaner car because the job was going to take a few hours. Now that is something that will make your day.

Wow, that's great!!
Mine's going on 10yrs in 2006, so even though my miles are low I've passed and warranty period long ago.

I think I may be (finally) getting a slow leak in the rear airsprings, no biggie, I can swap them out in a couple hours. It takes several days to leak below normal ride height with the compressor off, so it may be "O" rings too. I'll just replace all the rubbers and live happily ever after

Enjoy

There's a few ways to get a shot here:
The one I have is "Avatar", uploaded from my pc to this site, in my profile as an "avatar" ,here.
Another method would be to add a photo to every post using the IMG tags, but you have to maintain photo's somewhere on the web.

I use MyOnlineImages com to upload and link in forums. They give you 1500mb/mo bandwidth, and 50mb storage for free, and allow hotlinks to forums, ebay, etc.

You can also add an IMG tag to your "Signature" section of your profile, along with links to your website, or whatever else you want.

All these options, private messages, and more are in your User CP at the top/left portion of this forum page.

cobradude360, thanks for that link and information. It must not apply to the Lincoln because I tried the sequence suggested four or five times and cannot accomplish the mission..... Txs, JH

2003 T/C Seat belt chime

Hi, I just purchased a 2003 Town Car (Signature) series and would like to know how to eliminate the annoying dinging noise that sounds when the drivers seat belt is not fastened.

Below is the sequence to diasble seat belt chime!

1) Turn ignition to run (Don't start the car)
2) Wait for the seat belt light to go out.
3) Buckle and unbuckle your belt for the seating position to be disabled 9 times leaving the belt in the unbuckled position.
4) You should now have the "Air Bag" light on.
5) Within 10 seconds of step 4 buckle and unbuckle one more time and the "air bag" light should flash...not the seat belt light.
