fuel gauge

my fuel gauge doesnt work and if anyone has any reason why please help. is one reason because the car has been sittin for a long time?

1988 300zx turbo 5spd. 3" mandrel exhaust, filter, afco rad, e-fan, poly engine mounts, mbc at 8.5 psi, turboxs rfl-h bov, gutted plenum, etc.

blown turbo, under construction.. gt35 coming.

its a 1991 n/a and i just put gas in it but the gauge must be stuck or something so i dont know if i have to drive it to find out

You did start the car, right? The gauge won't move unless the car's on...at least it won't in my Z31...dunno if the Z32s are the same, but most cars are like that.

you have to turn your car one for your gas gauge to move, but if you have turned your car on since you put gas in, then it should register that you have gas in there.

see now if u fill the tank half way and it stays put at idel and then jumps around u have a bad floater resinator blah blah its in the tank if not u have electrical problems voltage regulator maybe the gauge dont work but, but if its in the tank thats a easy bat
