Talking Now this is the definition of RICE! GT-Faux "drift car"

I just finished this Polar Lights GTO faux drift car.

As ricey as it is, I still think it looks kinda cool. Might make a decent pace car. Hmmm, need to see what light bars I have...

Just having fun w/these prepainted models, just did a few paint details and added some parts box Tamiya rally car rims/brakes that I bought at the IPMS Nats for $3, money well spent on this model. And to add to the ricer theme, they're only four-lug wheels. Yeehaw

This model is absolutely completely unauthentic as a D1 drift car. It's just graphics on a stock '05 GTO w/the sport appearance package. I couldn't stomach the toylike GT wing, so it got the stock wing that they painted black.

Pics are a bit washed out, the yellow is much stronger than the pics show. The model is tighter than the pics show also. I was never going to get this kit, then I saw how much I like the graphics, and well...

They did an ok job on the graphics. Eh..come on man! Make a full race interior! Go yell at PL or something, "encourage" them to do it. lol. Came out good. I HATE the fact that they made the wing and mirrors black, on every 05 version. I don't understand whey they don't make the rims either...don't they have the liscensing to put the name on the box? And the right to the likeness? Or not...Keep up the great work man!

Thanks. I hear you about their weirdness...I got a purple one, and they deleted the extra set of emblem decals that the '04's came with .

The purple isn't an '05 color, and it's the wrong shade for the real purple '04. So into the vat it goes (my blue GT is almost stripped). Glad I saved the '04 decal sheet from the one I built w/o repainting. That doesn't get me 6.0 decals for the decklid.

Kind of skeezy at times, but nobody else was going to do this kit . I'm not about to spend time making this one authentic. If someone wants to do a proper aftermarket upgrade set, maybe then. That'll be a lot of work to make a stripped-out interior. The D1 car is far from stock. I knew all along this kit was only going to be graphics, the kit designer told us so way back when it was announced.

"Hey, is that the new Cavalier!"
That's what I say to GTO drivers at stoplights.

Excellent wheel choice/ride height, they really make the car look more racy!
Is there engine detail?

That is so cruel...

It's way bigger than a Cadavalier . A true sleeper if there ever was one.

The kit is full-detail having full engine and chassis detail, though it's not quite up to Tamiya or Revell quality, but not bad. I chose to just assemble the engine/chassis w/o detailing it, treating it like a curbside so I could have it done quickly.

sweet build... but now i'm not sure if i'll ever get any Polar Lights kits... they could at least put a little more effort into making them.

I guess the car not being Asian adds to the rice...
