Drive Belt Pulley Noise
I noticed a rattling noise on the belt/pulley side of the engine. It seems to have gone away for now. (vehicle is 2000 Silhouette with approx 63000km) Anyone notice this before? Could this perhaps be a bearing or the belt tensioner? Everything seems to be tight and it is a little hard to tell with the engine noise.
Thanks, Mark |

Re: Drive Belt Pulley Noise
It could be belt vibration. I had this on my van, it's engine speed related and may not show up at idle. Try opening the throttle while watching the belt to see if it starts vibrating.
At 63K Km it's a little soon to need a belt, but the van is almost 6 years old it could be that the belt has streached or gotten stiff, or the tensioner could have lost its spring. As my doctor says it'll either get better, get worse or stay the same, you only have to worry about one of them, Take care 94 |
