'91 All Trac Engine differences?
Greetings all,
I recently acquired a '91 All Trac Camry w/a bad motor. Can anybody tell me what the differences between an altrac 3sfe and a FWD 3sfe engine are? I'd like the install fwd drive motor but I'm not sure if it is possible. Thanks much, Tom |

None. The all-track motor are transversly mounted like many awd cars are.
Sounds like a great time to drop a stronger engine in.

Re: '91 All Trac Engine differences?
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, there does seem to be some difference between engines. Both the dealer and the rebuild shops consider the All-Trac 3sfe to be distinct. I suspect that the difference is subtle but I wonder if it is negligible? Any insight will be appreciated.

Re: '91 All Trac Engine differences?
The engines are supposed to be the same. I have access to an 89 service manual and there's no difference stated. Maybe it's because the All-Trac has the extra tranny hardware in the engine compartment. No six cylinders were offered with the All-Trac.
