with a small 4cyl. a dual exhaust is not necessary.
but, if it is something that you want; check some of the name brand muffler maker websites,
many have online catalogs (with pics) and with descriptions concerning
one pipe in, two pipes out (usually with dimensions as well)
might also call a parts store (or jump on their wbsite) and see if a muffler for a same year Grand Prix shows a dual out (as the same frame/chassis, might have same tail pipe coming back from engine bay)

hope this helps,
ctesla

...just came back into the shop...
'95-98 Grand Am SE with a 3.1l - V6
shows the same 2" pipe from engine, but a different muffler,
splitting to a "y" exit pipe

2.4 muffler - Walker#21266
3.1 muffler - Walker#21267

(both use all the same hangers and fittings) the V6 has the twin exit pipes.

hope this helps,
ctesla

Dual exhaust on a 2.4 gt? Good luck finding any parts store that lists the proper setup. I ran into this on my 95 gt, searched everywhere for exhaust parts. What I found was this: No one makes an aftermarket muffler (ie flowmaster, dynomax etc.) that will fit the passenger side as its very small (the body of it is 10 inches long to clear the fuel filler neck). What does work is this: Get stock mufflers for a 98 v6 gt and get the intermediate pipe with the resonator for the same car. The gasket at the front of the intermediate pipe is the same as well, but in front of that the parts are different (obviously....). Good luck, hope this helps.

Search their site for grand am, if you can't find one that way search for olds achieva as they are the same car. Grand am exhaust is the same layout 92-98 cat back.

Check the measurements of your existing pipes and muffler. Also, try pricing what I suggested earlier, it might work out to be around the same price.
