Angry Ford GT

Yadda yadda yadda....Polar lights Ford GT in red. Blue to follow later on. This kit was a great build. Very recomended...is that right? w.e..It's 4:15am, I promished I'd finish this tonight to zoom zoom, but, he finished his 1st.

Stripped chrome, used testors metalizers aluminum buff on teh wheels. They were great all up untill i had to mount the tires..oh...I've never yelled at a model so much. The paint kept rubbing from the wheels to the tires. I was sanding the paint off, but that didn't work. Paint still all on the tires. So I just painted them flat black.

I used the vinyl top spray technique on the interior. Why? I wanted to produce a nice textured look. This was achieved with multiple mist passes with the spray.

I didn't notice the recomended paints in the instructions untill after I had finished...the instructions are just like 4 different blown up parts assemblies. Tiny also.
Colors: Ford engine blue on the camcovers, silver on the interior accent parts, buffing aluminum on the wheels, gloss aluminum on the engine block, titanium on the exhaust..seemed ok at the time, you can't see it really anyway. Flat black on the interior, and engine misc. parts.

Thanks ZoomZoom for getting me to actually finish a model in record time, and all the info adn such he has posted. Thanks man.

Older cousin.

Thanks,
Frank X.

I'll bloody say! I take about 6 months, you take about 6 hours!

These Ford GTs and GT40s are lovely cars, shame I've promised myself not to buy any more kits for a while

Well done!

Well done! It actually looks okay w/those wheels/tires, and I guess you learned the hard way about the buffing metalizers...if I redo the rims, it'll be in the permanent style. I absolutely despise the ginormous ribs that encircle the wheels that you have to stretch the tires over .

Had so much fun w/it I'm glad I also bought the full-rice '05 GTO faux "drift" car yesterday that looks pretty cool (great paint and graphics) even though it's nowhere near authentic. I'll just slap it around like this one and find some better rims and be done w/it. Rice, Rice, Baby! And I got a non-rice version to strip and repaint.

Quickie hijack ...

Found a post w/some good outdoor shots, including engine compartment-answers a few questions. The Polar Lights engine compartment is somewhat simplified.

Re: Ford GT

Some outdoor shots of my own.

Higly unlikely meetup.

Yea, on the blue one, I'm going to file that big ass protrusion on the rims, so I can actually get the tires on

Do you have any pics of the SVT Focus? A progress thread?
I must have missed that one!

Really! I have yet to see one built stock until now. Everyone else seems hell bent on building the ferociously ugly tuner version

Redemption at last! I thought I was the only one who thought the "tuner" bumpers/wheels were hideous!

Re: Ford GT

Another nice result.
A shame Ford changed the wheels, I prefered the eight spoke ones on the original prototypes.

I won't tell you if you won't!

Cool car dood! There's a straight black one sitting on the showfloor at the dealership in Midland. Looks evil.

Re: Ford GT

Polar Lights made a few prepainted ones. But AMT has recently released the same kit, only unpainted.
