Just got my own bike

Hey guys, i just got my own bike, its a 2004 Kawasaki ZZR 600. What i want to know is if there are after market products that I can put on my bike to get more power from it, like exhaust and thigs of the sort. I check out certain sites, but they only have for those popular bikes like the zx-r's and stuff, nothing for the zzr's, any help will be greatly appreciated!! thanks!

Re: Just got my own bike

Hey there SVT... Welcome to AF. Not to mention, AF street bikes.

Don't take this the wrong way, we are trying to help you make sound decisions, so when I ask... how much STREET riding experience do you have, I am only trying to help. I saw that you ride dirt, but trees don't pull out in front of you b/c they didn't see you coming... unlike most soccer moms and SUV drivers.

Before spending the money on mods, I HIGHLY recommend finding a local MSF course and learning the ropes. Then spend some time in the saddle. You will learn how to make your bike faster by learning how to ride properly and "correctly".

Again, welcome to AF Street Bikes, and I speak for ALL of us (yes, even Ace over there) when I say we hope to see you around for quite some time!

Re: Just got my own bike

IMO you should've started with an older 600 but meh, whatever it's your skin on the pavement...but with my bike i started off with a jetkit and then a chip so that the engine would take advantage of the extra air flow....and after that if it wouldn't have gotten smashed i would've gotten a cam....i would start with a power programmer or something for starters and then maybe get a jet kit....it's up to you though...stay safe and welcome to two wheels...

I had a guy in a Lexus pull out right in front of me while I was doing about 35 the other day. All I gotta say is that, if it happened when I first started riding.......smack! I did however; suffer from some majorly soar balls if any of you know what I mean. Even if its not your first bike, each bike has a different feeling to them, and it could take a little bit of time to figure it out. Anyways, enough rant (as you noticed we like to do that). Enjoy riding and always be safe!

Re: Just got my own bike

yeah but i bet the new 600s have plenty of power... even thought 1100 probably had more it probably wasn't much... especially since it's 10+ years old...

I own a '99-00 600, and it's not necessarily the power of the 600 that's frightening to handle (presuming the rider previously has much experience with a bike with less hp) as long as the revs are out of the powerband. What's really sensitive is the front brake, some of them is only 1/2 inch of travel before the rider is all over the bars and locking the front wheel.

However, for bikes that are like R6, fast revving and very, very peaky, you better count your blessings. It's both sensitively hard on acceleration and braking. I also had a Yamaha FZR600, although there was no midrange, but the power delivery of the bike was not smooth or slow at all.
