Cool Just Finished---Ford GT by Polar Lights

Here's the Polar Lights Ford GT. I built it this evening, with the guilty pleasure of not having to paint it . I did detail paint the interior/engine, and ditched the horrendous wheels/tires/brakes for some Fujimi Murcielago rims from my parts box. I like the look .

The next one gets stripped and I'll spend more time detailing it. This is a pretty good kit, except for the wheels/tires which are too toylike for a good model. I'll snap pics of them later. I threw this thing together w/o a lot of care. I lost an exhaust header, and forgot to put on the front cover w/all the pulleys . Oh well, can't see 'em that well anyway.

For all the controversy, I think this thing is pretty damned cool .

Re: Just Finished---Ford GT by Polar Lights

Is the engine seperate, meaning is is completely removeable from the chassis?

Great job, those wheels actually suit the car.

Thanks, yes the engine is separate but if you use it in a visible location, the transaxle has a slot for axle assembly to go through. It's completely hidden on this model both topside and on the bottom.

Re: Just Finished---Ford GT by Polar Lights

BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! hehee. Great job man. I have a little paint differences. You'll see. Dude, I'm so freakin ecstatic about how my wheels came out!!! Anyways. You win. See you all soon, in my Ford GT thread. :-/

Zoom, are you going to make the blue one full detail, open the rear? I challenge you. Err...I'll do my best. You will be the better though.

For all you naysayers out there, this kit has tremendous potential. I don't mean it is a poor kit either. There is soo much detail you can put into this, and it will comeout astounding! WTG Polar Lights!

Thanks, I look forward to seeing yours.

I'm not opening my other one up, I'm happy w/curbsides. I will do a better job on the visible components, my paint will be better, not sure if I'll paint the stripes or use the decals. With so much of the model molded in black, and so much of the real car black, it's easy to detail out w/a minimum of time. I'm pretty impressed w/this kit, which is obviously aimed at both beginners and experienced builders.

I'm interested in your wheels/tires...I think the wheels can be salvaged but the tires are way too SUV-like.

Sweeet! Nice build, I like it. Now Matt needs to build one with some carbon fiber on it.

Very nice. The wheels/tires you've used look much better than the ones I had seen in the test shots of the car.

That gunmetal/silver is hott! Is that an 06 color scheme? Because I didn't see it on the ford site. Or is it just the show car?

Yeah, I chose not to paint the little black strip on the spoiler-not really laziness so much as I like it better body color.

I think that tungsten colored GT was the show car, they'll probably make the car in that color...I know the '06 Mustang GT will be coming in that color, which replaces mineral gray.

Just finished my ultra-ricey drift GTO .

Pics coming shortly.

Damn Bob....are you going to have a table just for your builds at the meeting? You've been building like crazy...your PS2 must be broken.

Three models finished in one week. Choke on that one ! Harrison is my hero!!!!

And the PS2 is humming right along

I don't scratchbuild...I just build...

The Polar Lights kits are just for quick fun. Though I have another GT that'll take much longer w/a unique paint job. It might take two days .

And now back to the Skag...
