Help!! 2002 Grand Am GT starts and stalls

Please help... My 2002 Grand Am GT (110,000 miles) is not starting. One morning, I went out, tried to start and it tries but won't turn over. We had it towed to a local mechanic who sprayed something with aerosol spray and sent us home. Well it's two weeks later, this morning the car won't start again. I know it's not the starter, it's brand new. A friend told me to spray some starter fluid in the air filter to see if would start. Well it started and died, he thinks it's the fuel pump. Any suggestions on how to get it to run long enough to avoid a tow? Also, could it be the fuel pump relay and if so where is the relay located on this model?

Thanks in advance.

Look in the power control center under the hood. The top should indicate which one it is. Spend a couple of dollars and replace it and see if the problem goes away. If not you may want to check the fuel pressure regulator to see if you are getting adequate fuel pressure. If the fuel pressure is less than 45-55 psi at idle then you will probably have to replace the fuel pump. Although don't forget to check the fuel pressure regulator as it can also cause similar problems and it is a lot cheaper than a fuel pump.
