You just answered your own question.

$32,000 for a car. That's still alot of money to be spending on a car that can only carry two people, can't hold much in the trunk... plus insurance is high for them for just about anybody.

Those who can afford Vette's, usually don't do much to them other than maybe wheels/tires. And maybe exhaust.

Those who love Vette's, and can afford them build them to be monsters. Like Lingenfelter Twin Turbo Vettes. Or the MTI C6 427ci Devil Ray.

There's a huge difference in the crowd of people who can afford Corvettes. Those who buy it for the pussymobile. And those who buy it to scare the hell out of women.

Re: Corvettes

I have a friend that has a 2001 Z06 on the bottle.

There are a couple of Corvettes around here that have gotten modded heavily. But not many.

Re: Corvettes

Most people buy something that is a lil cheaper to make fast(er). The $-to-go ratio is just not good. Granted you get a good solid foundation to build on, that $32k down. Most cars can be insanely fast on $20k including the cost of the car.

NTM, if you blow a Vette's engine or wreck it, you'll be kicking yourself in the ass forever. Some of the rich speed freaks build them and go to those desert races out in the middle of arizona and mexico. I have a vid of a supercharged viper, supercharged vette, and a supra all going down to some crazy supra.lol It kicks ass.

Re: Corvettes

vettes are sexy yah but $$$ poses an issue.

I'd rather have my $7,500 riceburner and spend $2,500-$3,000 on it to blow by a vette. Nice cars though, maybe I'll own one if I win the lotto.

Re: Corvettes

Well, all teh rich people I know who like to go fast think Vettes are slow...but then again, we have like, five AMGs in my neighborhood, and two Ferraris on the weekend, and I found out that the Lambo I raced is in the suburb across the street so...

AMG's and ferraris common in your neighbourhood? easy there richie rich

and alot of ppl who own vettes don't really see any need in making their car faster, its got all the speed and prestige executives need

but their are a few ppl wo think corvette speed isnt fast enough (namely us) who would get the Lingenfelter vettes

Re: Corvettes

ahh the age old dilemma of a car costing more than the right owners can afford. ive come to believe this is to keep these cars out of the wrong hands. think about the idiots that would be getting killed in 500hp vipers if they werent $85k or whatever. personally my biggest gripe has always been Porsche. i feel that its gearheads like us who want to drive a performance car who should really be in a 911 turbo, yet the only people who can afford them r doctors who wouldnt have the time to race one even if they wanted to.same with the vettes. its a darn shame to see an american performance icon like a 400hp vette wasted on old guys in suits.

Re: Corvettes

Top speed is where the vette seperates itself from cheaper modded cars. I would think that you would have to do some things to a civic to keep parts from flying off at 180 mph.

People just don't need to go that fast on the street.

Re: Corvettes

the Vette is hard to improve upon with spending alot of money. Well driven Stock Z06's are often the fastest street driven cars of the day at autocrosses, beating tons of turbocharged or supercharged "tuner" cars with full aftermarket suspensions.

Re: Corvettes

The vette is as easy to improve upon as any camaro. Its nowhere near peaked out.

Yup, and it would still cost 50% less than a bone stock Z06 and be more fun to drive IMO.

Highly tuned 4cyl>highly tuned v8
