Lude Vs. Celica

Hey guys, I am looking at a '98 prelude SI for the same price as 2001 Celica GT-S. I want whatever car is faster and more reliable. Any suggestions?

If your planning on doing any sort of racing... go with the Prelude. I heard (correct me if im wrong) celica's VVTI doesnt allow you to rev high beyond X rpms in neutral so they get crappy launches. (Maybe that is complete BS, buts its what i heard)

Re: Lude Vs. Celica

When my 4th gen VTEC Lude was stock I raced a newer (2003?) GT-S Celica and it was a tie. I did f-up the launch, so maybe I could have beat him if I launched better. But in the upper rpms we were right next to each other. I didn't even pull on him when VTEC kicked in - I thought for sure I would but we just stayed door to door.

I don't know anything about how reliable a Celica is but I'm definitely satisfied with the reliability of my Lude.

Yeah, its hard to beat Honda's reliability. And Preludes are fast enough. H22's are more friendly to mods as well.

Re: Lude Vs. Celica

Yeah Go the Prelude! Celica's ive heard have weak gear boxes and they don't stand up to getting pushed! But that is only what ive been told! But go the Prelude!

Alright, I love the shape and the body of the Celica but I like the reliability of the honda's. I heard that Toytoa's are pretty good on reliability too but I will never get anything american ever again. So it either is between Honda or Toyota.

Maybe if i save enough money for INSURANCE for a subaru i'll get a WRX or an STI. I was loking at a Nissan Sentra Spec-v but there is not enough horse power to stock. Someone told me their not very good cars anyways.

Anyone has anymore input it would be greatly appreciated!

If you are worried about insurance, don't get a GT-S.. lol

There isn't a 5th gen Si, do you mean SH??

A 4th gen Si will get walked by a GT-S. The VTEC is supposed to run high 14's, as is the GT-S.. but if you can get them for the same price, I would go with the newer car.
