Thinking of purchasing a 1995 J30

Just want to know what to look for. Are these cars a pain and do they require a lot of repairs...thanks

Far superior to anything else that you've listed below your post - that's for sure. Decent power, great looks, great interior. Overall minimal repairs IF it's been well-maintained, if not - forget about it... Good luck.

Re: Thinking of purchasing a 1995 J30

A couple things: make sure maintenance has been done as parts / repairs can be expensive. I believe the timing belt needs done at 105k miles (mine is a 94, I assume the 95 is the same), and it was around $1000.

As noted, these are very nice, reliable, classy cars. The only weak points in my eyes are:

- Suspension is too soft for my taste
- Leather in the interior is low quality like most Japanese makes.
- Parts can be VERY expensive. The big item that needs to be replaced are shocks. There are no aftermarket ones made, and parts plus labor is around $1200. I replaced the alternator myself, and recall it was around $200 - kind of steep.
- I am not sure if traction control was ever available on these. It sure could use it, particularly in snowy climates.

Re: Thinking of purchasing a 1995 J30

if you don't want to work on a car at all... don't get this car.

first off....

they are fun as hell to drive and kinda quick (15.7 1/4 mile)

not too bad for a big car.

but, i'm considering getting something with better gas mileage (because i don't like 21mpg)
