What oil to use

Hi

I am new to the forum need some help to know what oil to use.

I have a 2003 Volkswagen Golf Match 1.6 16v.

The recommended in my local halfords store is 0/30w longlife is this correct or can I use a diffrent type.

I hope I've given enough info.
