95 Mustang

Okay my aunt blew the engine in her 95 mustang. It was just the V6.. She said she would sell it to my for 500 bucks. My question is, could I just drop a V8 in it. It has an auto tranny that is good. I was also wondering where can I get the engine at if it is possible, and what changes will have to be done. Thanks for any help.

Re: 95 Mustang

yup but youll have to replace the rear-end too, which you could probably find at a junkyard, and the tranny might need replacing eventually. not sure about those autos tho so idk.

Re: 95 Mustang

the v6 model has a 7.5 inch rear-end, the v8 model has a 8.8. the v8 will destroy a 7.5. you could probably find a 302 in an old explorer...

Re: 95 Mustang

one-legger or not, the 7.5 will eventually shoot a tooth out of the back cover. The 8.8 is a JY item. Any GT Mustang 95 or newer will pretty much have what you need.

If you don't have strict emissions where you are at I'd recommend going with a JY explorer motor, change valvesprings and cam, at put an Edelbrock Performer RPM or Air Gap manifold and a 650 cfm carb on it....Save yourself about a week's worth of wiring, and you can use foxbody headers (read: Hooker Super comps...)

Yes, Yes,,, Yes, but you might want to consider the increased weight that you are adding to the front end. Might need to replace shocks and fromt springs

This is a question. Will the v6 kmember match up to the V8 motor mounts?

Re: 95 Mustang

Don't worry 'bout the springs. '94-95 Cobras use V-6 springs, ends up bein' like a 3/4 inch drop.
