HELP! Already tried many things on 95 Cavalier

My daughter's 95 Cavalier is making me crazy. It stalled on her a couple miles from the house and seemed to be out of gas. We towed it home and took down the gas tank (because she had fuel and was not out of gas) We took out the fuel pump thinking that was the problem, but when hooked up direct, the fuel pump ran great. So, we changed the relay switch, still no luck. Then we changed the oil sending unit, still no luck. Then we changed the ICM (ignition control module) - better, but still runs rough and won't really take a lot of gas.

HELP! Is the fuel pump weak? We have checked wires from all over the place. We were getting 2 seconds of power and then it would go out, which is why we changed the ICM. This is making us nuts. We can't figure out why all of us a sudden this car stalled and now won't run again. It's been a good little car for her - until 2 weeks ago.

Any suggestions? It's had new spark plugs and couple bottles of injector cleaner ran thru it in the last couple months. The problem seemed to be that the fuel pump won't remain running. Any ideas?

First...I have to ask the simple questions...did you try changing your fuel filter? And when you say that you had power for 2 seconds...did you mean the engine ran for a couple seconds...or was there electric current for two seconds? If there was only electric current for two seconds before it died...and this occurs when you turn the key, it's most likely trying to prime the pump.
Second a good test to run to see if the problem is that your fuel pump isn't pumping the psi that it needs to would be to hook up a fuel pressure gauge to your enging, I *beleive* that you can hook this up to your fuel injectors....I dunno in truth, when I changed my fuel pump I was able to figure out that it was starving for fuel by pouring a little bit of gas onto the butterfly trap in the intake. Don't know if any of this helps...but hopefully it'll help a bit....cheers and good luck!

Also....fuel injector cleaners are a waste of money....the average one only contains approx. 1-2% of the chemical legally known to remove carbon deposits, the only product I've heard of that is worth mentioning for cleaning fuel injectors is something called Run-Rite, and *I've heard from a good source that using fuel injector cleaners can sometimes cause you more headaches because it will dislodge a "flake" of deposits and block up the injector....not the results your looking for.
