Trans howls in first after stopping..

I have a 99 Yukon, 50K, original transmssion. After stopping for a few minutes (say at a drive thru) the trans makes a howling sound and takes longer than usual to shift to 2nd. Then when it does shift it shifts harder than normal. I have only noticed this during the summer months and it's been hot here, in the high 90's.

I've checked the fluid and it seems and tests normal. I read the thread about flushing and will keep that in mind if I need to have it flushed.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have noticed a howl on my Yukon, but I don't think it is coming from the tranny. Mine only happens when I have the A/C on. You may want to see if is that and not the tranny... Good luck.

Thanks for responding but mine is definitely the transmission. It stops after shifting into 2nd and howls even with the A/C off. It only does it while it's hot and after stopping for a brief period of time. Like the fluid isn't circulating and therefore it takes longer to shift. I'll have it looked at but was just wondering if anyone had seen this before.
