non vtec cams

I recently swapped an jdm b18b engine with a b16a tranny into my car, i have several modifications including a wet nitrous kit. I had a jdm b16a prior to the b18b and it is ever so evident that the b18b falls on its face in the upper rpms. my question is, Is there a way to increase the upper rpm power? Will cams do the trick? I dont mind sacrificing some bottom end power. Just for reference, I am not even slightly interested in doing an ls/vtec.

Re: non vtec cams

higher compression pistons, cams, and valvetrain upgrades should do the trick.

Their advertised by Toda for the b series, but any body that knows anything about these please do inform me:

Thats about all I could think of when I saw the title of non vtec cams.

no no no no those are for vtec motors

Read up on the i'm sure another site can explain them better then I. Those are some nasty full race cams. Pretty much if your not going below 5-6K ever why use the primay lobe its more weight on vavle train.

If you would like I would be happy to link first poster to an awesome LS head build very well also a intake mani for it

Lets see it, I'd be interested in reading it, because a turbo LS set up kinda of intrigues me.

Awesome, you won't switch to an OEM honda head with OEM reliability, but you're more than willing to switch to some big cams that put a ton of stress on your valvetrain and will give you less relability and less power than an LS/VTEC. Way to buy into internet BS.

I semi agree with you but also you thrash him for buying into stuff have you ever seen a well made LS motor?

Maybe he doesn't have a shop near him to do the conversion maybe he knows LSs can go fast too? Maybe he figures for the price of the conversion he could boost and still make more power.

Alot of things to factor I have an LSVTEC in my car and love it granted i know the builders great friends in fact also but I know a few non vtec LSs that can just fly.

Yeah, I tuned a buddies LS motor with a ported head, crower 404's, blox intake, unknown header (spsm smsp or some shit like that), CTR pistons, no PS or AC to the blood curdling tune of 170 WHP. Same motor with Blox B cams, stock GSR head, GE vtec conversion kit made 210 WHP. If you're going to go the slow way in N/A you might as well try and eek every little bit out of the motor. If you can change your oil filter and your headgasket, installing GE's vtec kit isn't too far out there for you.

Re: non vtec cams

Is GE's vtec kit that easy? I've always been interested in an lsvtec but I didn't know if the kit was that difficult to use...

170WHP is more then stock CTR now you might want to argue its stuipid and pointless to compare but think this way

i'm betting if he shopped he could have done that for way less then CTR swap.

I never said its bad and wrong to do just alot of people doing N/A on b16s or boosting Ds *stock guts* make less

mate that ls to a y21 tranny or s80 bet it would scoot along and who expects the LS anyway?

Also if you graphed both on dnyo could you put them both up? I'd like to see how they changed.
