Re: 98 -- removing door panel

I have a `97 Cavalier 2 door and I removed the door panels to add power door locks. The panel itself is just put on with those plastic ribbed plug things and a screwdriver between the door panel and the metal part of the door will easily pop the plugs from the door. However, if you have manual crank windows, you're gonna need a special tool to to pop off the snap rings that hold the handle to the shaft of the crank. I bought the tool at the local auto supply store for a few bucks. It was in the section where they sell the "Help" supplies like replacement window cranks and coolent caps and stuff like that. Just tell the guy at the store what you need and he'll help you find it. If they have those little plastic plug things, you might want to pick up a few of those too because when you pop the door panel away from the door, the plugs sometimes break or get stripped.

Once the door panel is off, the speaker is easy to get to. I can't help you on the speaker selection though. I'm satisfied with the stock ones.

Good Luck!

If your looking for replacment speakers the MTX line is a really nice speaker for the price they sell them at.. dont go with anything cheap.. you will regret it later.. especially if you love your music and listen to it all the time but hell if you dont care get what ever you want.. :)

ah ok cool.. thanks

I was thinking Pioneer ones from canadian tire.. 70 bux CDN 130 watt.
I do love music and i like clear sound. I have a 10" sub and 700 watt 6x9's in the rear but my front speakers dont work at all.. I tired two different decks. I tested them with a battery... nothing seems to tell me they work or are even there.
