Question Body Lift Question

I have a stock 93 Wrangler I6. I am buying new rims and 33's to put on it. I am planning of going with a body lift to give me room for the 33's. And now for the q's, what obstacles am i going to run into? How big of a body lift am I going to need to give myself room for the 33's? How much can I lift it without having to do a bunch of other modifications(steering column ect...)?

All you need is 3 inches of lift. They'll clear just fine. If you want, you could also add a 1 inch lift shackle for extra clearance. I'm running 3 1/2 inches of suspension lift and they clear with plenty of room. I have a fiend that did a 2 inch body lift and the 33's fit, but there is a rub when going off road. Good luck man

Re: Body Lift Question

Hey myjeepsux420, did you use a SYE? What about a SOA?

I found a Ford 8.8 from a Ford Exploder, so when I swap em I do the SOA, and suspension lift kit. At most I would ever do is a 1" body lift. I heard you might get into some trouble doing a 3" body lift.

I did not do a spring over. I did a 2 1/2 spring lift with 1 inch shackels. The shackels are heavy duty and greasable. It handles great and doesn't feel top heavy. I don't like body lifts over one inch because they make the vehicle feel top heavy and can even cause clearance problems with the shifters for the tranny and t-case. Also you risk breaking the bolts from the frame to the body because of their overall length. Go with a suspension lift. Spring over kits are cheap.

Re: Body Lift Question

I have seen the #' body lift bolts break when you hit the mud or rocks. What happens is the body flexes with the suspension, and alot of torque the bolts, the longer the bolt, the more torque on them.
