Ive been planning on lowering my car. I want to buy lowering springs, but my cousin says that i should just save the money and hack the springs and make it shorter. He's gonna do it for me, so its free, but i worry about the ride comfort, will it be the same or not? According to other experineces, its bumpier, but some say they dont notice the difference, what do you guys think?

Overall, i would feel better just spending $200 on springs, and know everything is the way it should be, but just me. Your money, your car, do what you want.

Re: Lowering the car.....
Cut springs are TERRIBLE!! don't do it, spend the money on quality springs. Sure the handling is good but for drive quality they suck. The first 240 i had had cut springs and it was bouncy as hell. Sure you can go into turns and hug the road but if your using it as a daily driver dont do it. the problem with cut springs is that the springs are still at the factory spring rate which is pretty soft. when you buy actual lowering springs there stiffer to compensate for the wheel travel so you dont bottom out all over the place.

Yea definitely spend the $ on springs, also don't even think about heating the springs. A couple of my friends have done it and its damned ridiculous, looks like they have pogo sticks for suspension.
